director Alison Miller
Alison Miller holds a BA degree in Dance from Goucher College and a MA in Performing Arts from American University. She has also completed the International Ballet Teachers Workshop in Mississippi and Paris, the Bolshoi Academy in Colorado, and several Vaganova training workshops as part of her ongoing training.
In addition to owning and directing the Ballet Academy, Miss Miller is actively involved in the dance community. She has performed in the Washington-Baltimore area and for a number of years has choreographed for theater productions at Prince Georges Community College, University of Maryland and The Chamber Theater. She has lectured at the Cosmos Club on dance history, served as the dance representative to the Maryland Alliance for Arts Education and on the committee to form the MD State Comprehensive Education Plan. She has also served as treasurer, secretary, festival chair and president of the Maryland Council for Dance.
instructor Micki Freeny
Maralita (Micki) Freeny has danced with the Ballet Academy since 1982. She has taught adult beginner classes and children's classes for the last several years and regularly substitutes in other level classes. Micki has early training in the Cecchetti method and has taken Vagonova teachers' classes. Micki is currently the director of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System. Her husband Ray and children Devon and Kyle are former BA students.
instructor Nicole Craver
Nicole Craver has been dancing at the Ballet Academy for 17 years. This Fall marks her fourth year of teaching at the Ballet Academy as well. In December 2004, she will graduate from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences and Psychology. She hopes to begin graduate school in January 2005 with studies in Audiology. In addition to school and dance classes, Nicole has done pre-press design and layout for four years in Printing Services at the University of Maryland.
